At 6 p.m. on March 30th, president Jin Donghan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, engaged in the "innovative China"class to discuss the topic "Whether Innovation Comes From Inspiration" with Prof. Gu Jun coming from School of Sociology and Political Science and Prof. Shi Ying, deputy director of Scientific Research Office. President Jin shared his view on "Innovation Sense & Creative Thinking" as an engineer in the class. He told several interesting stories to get through his innovative concept, that is, to break stereotypes and to be imaginative. He also bring all students a big surprise—a model of the motor he designed by demonstrating to start it lighted with alcohol. Everybody got excited at the sight of the motor’s rotation. After this, Prof. Shi Ying displayed the electronic map on innovation of SHU drawn by himself. He said that we could realize the virtuous circle of innovation on the basis of establishing important science and research platforms, supporting key science and research fruits and establishing industrial parks in the campus. Students’ curiosity and desire for knowledge were stirred up successfully. And many of them vied for asking questions. This class stimulated not only students’ creative thinking but also their desire to establish their start-ups. Since the beginning of Innovative China, the class won popularity among students. Leaders of SHU spoke highly of it and local media reported it several times.
